The Grade 7 & 8 Science and Grade 8 Math program at Wellesley Public School in Ontario, Canada, focuses on a student-centered project based learning approach.
Project Based Learning is an opportunity for students to have a voice, to learn required skills and implement them in an authentic setting, to find and access information to solve problems and to learn content through an inquiry process while working on the project.
A strong emphasis is placed on developing 21st Century Learning skills, in particular Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, Creativity and Citizenship. Research has proven that these are the skills required for our future innovators to be successful in the technologically advanced world that they will be graduating into.
Within our classroom, students develop an environment that welcomes risks and mistakes, for this is where the best learning happens. We are critical friends to one another and provide feedback so our work can be improved.

"Albert Einstein wrote, 'Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.' The question I have for you at this point of our journey together is, 'What is your genius?'" - Matthew Kelly
